IT Master Planning

1.The Deliverable

An IT architecture is a series of principles, guidelines, drawings, standards, training and rules that guide an organization through acquiring, building, modifying, and the interfacing of IT resources throughout the enterprise

IT resources include hardware equipment, software, communication protocols, application development methodologies, database systems, modeling tools, IT organizational structure, data nd training.

In addition , with distributed-computing environments, an IT architecture defines and demonstrates the interoperability, scalability, and portability of applications and their sub-components across the architecture.

There are many IT architecture models. We are using using the Index model, for its simplicity and clear well defined boundaries between the components:

Here we will define shortly the Index model entities :

Hard-Infrastructure

Denote the technical infrastructure of IT assets. This includes communication networks, operation  software and hardware.

Data

Denote the data assets of the business. This includes data and database definitions

Applications

Denote the business applications that are used to run the business. These applications are built on the infrastructure.

Organization

Denote organization and people issues that enable the IT environment. This includes items such as the IT organizational structure, business processes, business core competencies, and human resource policies.

Principles

Define rules and guidelines that are used to guide decision-making and motivate collaboration across the IT users.

Models

Define diagrams, blueprints, or other forms of schematics that are used to express and illustrate data, and applications for the organization. The UML model is used to define the system requirements

Standards

Define agreed-upon standards and processes that are used in executing data or applications.

2.The Project Phases

The project of Consultancy Service for Master Plan Formulation consists of three phases as described in following points:

Perception Verification Phase

Several brainstorming sessions between the Consultant team members and customer team are mandatory to secure common understanding.

Dvelopment Phase

To exactly define the new index model. A comprehensive interim report with the Master plan  is to be developed and submitted to the CUSTOMER.

The interim-1 report will cover the technical, managerial and economical evaluations of the submitted Master Plan for information Systems Infrastructure

Proposed Solution Phase

After a set of common discussions between the consultant and the client, a comprehensive final report will be submitted by the end of this phase. The content of the final report is:

  • The new index model for  total Requirements
  • The required training for IT Personnel
  • The required training for management &end users
  • Tasks Identification and timing for a typical implementation
  • Cost estimate for the implementation of the proposed design
  • Benefits
